The final two figures of BeFA2011 are here! They are Black Rock Shooter Animation Ver. by Good Smile Company and Momohime by Alter. They beat the other 18 girls in the first round and make it into the final round.

Momohime ftw. I think BRS is getting votes just because she’s popular, but I believe Momohime is sculpted better.

Just to clarify, I own both. BRS Anime Ver. is very good, but should not have made it to the finals,.. nor the BeFA to begin with. O_o

Just my own 2 cents BUT: While certainly the BRS has flaws, espacially the missing star, and the paintjob looks better on momo too, there is still one big plus for BRS in my personal opinion: She’s damn dynamic.
Don’t get me wrong here, I really like momohime by Alter, espacialle the colors are so beautyful, but I wouldn’t make the BRS worse than it is. If you put the BRS on a shelf by herself, she is, in my opinion, much more interesting, hence “better”.
Nevertheless voted for momohime, since I love the colors and they fit my room 2 xD
I can’t be the only one thinking that the only reason that BRS is there is beacuse of the recent surge in vocaloid fandom. Momohime is there from an obscure game based purely on the merits of the sculpt, pose and paint.
I was really surprised to see Black Rock Shooter in the finalists… I mean, WTF? Why not Dead Master? Her figure looks much better than this BRS, the paint job is way better, and at least her base is not fragile, because yeah, a part of my BRS’s base broke as well. OTL
But yeah, I get she is there because Black Rock Shooter figures are extremely popular…
It’s not too surprising that these 2 face off in the end. They even look like they’re posed to face off.
As for the surprise about BRS. GSC’s screw up on the star aside, it’s still an excellent sculpt with a really dynamic pose. Actually they’re poses are so similar you’d think that’s what drew the voters.
Beside the star, the overall quality control of GSC is not really good. I always see bad stuff about the GSC figure on 2chan or komica everytime they have a new figure released. =(
