Shining Hearts is really new and I still don’t know anything about it. But personally I really don’t like this character because of the color of her outfit. Red and Green are the worst color combination! As a graphic designer, I hate this kind of opposite color combination a lot. ='(
By the way, I just notice that all these 3 figure from Kotobukiya today are all gonna be released in June!! Let’s see if June will become another deadly month after April and May. (-_______-.

Why these combination is bad?
Other than the fact, if I have my friend eyes I wouldn’t be able to differentiate them, I have no idea.
I myself don’t really like the green color used here.
And since she’s out on June… I guess I’ll pass.

This is just basic thing in color theory. It’s all about harmony. Do you know the color wheel? (Search “Color Wheel” in google if you’re not sure).
Put it simply, in the Red, Yellow, Blue wheel thingy, the color of the opposite side is the contrary color. They don’t blend in at all so it hurt your eyes the most.
The only real problem is on screen where you would have green background with red text on top of it.
They work fine together most of time as long as it’s not pure green vs pure red right next to each other.

I thought complementary colours were meant to make both colours stand out when seen together? But either way, I don’t like the colours! Not vibrant enough for me 😛 The red is nice, green, not so much. I actually thought of just doing art in my free time after I graduate from university. I bought a wacom tablet but never really seriously sat down to draw. Just played osu all day. Lol orz
You’re right, complementary colors means to stand out.
I’m not an expert for fashion design and only have 2 years experience on interior design (btw, I studied Display + Design) so I can’t say it for sure.
But you don’t want complementary colors for fashion and interior design. Fashion and interior design is about harmony. Yes, you want to stand out from the others, but not within yourself.
It depends on what colour wheel you are referring to. In regards to light, the primary colours are red, green and blue. The opposite colour of red is turquoise, and the opposite colour of green is magenta.
Actually, there are many opposite colours that do go well together, such as orange and aqua, and yellow and blue.
This is an actually printed/colored material, not light. You can’t use RGB color wheel in here.

I’m with you on this one. I’m not a fan of green and red or silver and gold. Not that I have anything against Christmas, they just seem to hurt my eyes.

GGT is totally right. As an art student, I’ve studied color theory; complementary colors usually don’t go together well when you want the colors to harmonize. Rather, since they are on the opposite sides on the color wheel, they accentuate each other, making the colors really pop.
However, I think the colors on this figure is well done. It’s a tough color scheme to pull off but because its not the saturated version of each color, it actually has some amount of blending. The mint green in her hair, slightly darker and less saturated velvet ish red, blue green skirt and jade ankle bracelets come together surprisingly well.
It could be better if it used more analogous colors, but I’d say color, figure quality, character design all go to make for an above par figure. The price doesn’t hurt it either.

It’s not the colors that put me off, it’s the tofu-like facial expression that puts me off. That’s just plain lazy that they don’t add any expression whatsoever.
Many ppl say red and green don’t match.. but the art is to put them together and make them look nice.. I like the color.. mother nature has red rose with green leaves
i am an animation student. it maybe true that red and green dont goes well . but in this case the green is more towards a darker and dull green instead of bright. so i think its beautiful 🙂
