Kotobukiya is going to release the Makinami Mari Illustrious ( 真希波・マリ・イラストリアス) 1/6 PVC figure from the anime movie “Evangelion 2.0 You can (not) Advance” ( 新劇場版エヴァンゲリオン「破」 ). Will be released in May 2010. Around 240mm tall, 7,800 yen.

This Mari is so $$$! The Asuka and Ayanami Rei in the same series were only 6,800 yen each but this Mari is 7,800 yen. Well, Mari’s base is a little bit more complicated then Asuka and Rei, but still I don’t think that worth 1,000 yen more. But since she is the *new character, I guess people don’t really mind paying 1,000 yen more for her. Btw, the photo angle of the 1st image below makes her butt looks so big and her legs look so short, LOL. XD
Anyway, anyone know when will the Evangelion 2.0 BD/DVD comes out?

The scale looks quite off. Like you said, her legs look quite short. Not a big fan of the pose either. The general quality of the figure looks nice though, so I’m sure this’ll be a must have for a lot of people. I’ll keep waiting for the right Mari figure for me, however.
She suits me just fine .Such a GIRL FROM IPANEMA´s butt deserves a honour place in any serious collection.Congrats to the BUTT genious who had this insight.
With regards to that price, AmiAmi has her up for pre-order for ¥6250 (with a “maker’s price” of ¥7800) which seems pretty good.
I feel I have to get her to complete my set… but… she doesn’t seem to live up to Rei and Asuka. Oh well, ordered.
Don’t much like Mari’s character design in general so pass…Be interested to see if I change my mind after I actually watch 2.0
It’s not too bad, I think if I get her(thinking of getting the other two as well, someday) I’ll display her a little more too the side rather then complete BUTT SHOT!! Hopefully making it look better(no short legs!). It’ll have her looking more off to the side rather then straight on.
Both Asuka and Rei are looking outward too, rather then at you.
I don’t think her butt is that bad, it’s about the same as Asuka’s. I’m not fond of the pose though, and I’m not really much of a fan of Mari herself anyway.
Neither one of the three figures have a good pose.. but who the hell is Makinami? Was she in the series or is she ‘invented’ in 2.0 which I haven’t seen yet? I can’t remember her.
