upLark is going to release the Birdy Cephon Altera ( バーディー・シフォン＝アルティラ ) 1/7 PVC figure from the manga/anime “Tetsuwan Birdy” ( 鉄腕バーディー )by Yuki Masami. Will be released in September 2009. Around 230mm tall, 7,800 yen.

Tetsuwan Birdy is really not my cup of tea. I have the first 8 volumes of the manga but I couldn’t even finish the first one. I tried by best to finish it but I just couldn’t. It’s too boring for me. Just like the other manga “Patlabor” by Yuki Masami. The manga is really boring but the anime is great. So maybe I should try to watch the Birdy anime. But I heard that the anime quality is really bad? =P
I don’t know about you, but to me upLark is a really new figure manufacturer. I checked they website and found that they were used to be “Eye up”, they just changed their name to “upLark” on April 01, 2009 (You can some of their products here and here). Althought they are a fairly new company in the PVC figure industry, their products are pretty good. If you’re still thinking whether to pre-order this figure or not, I’ll say just go ahead. Their quality is pretty good. =]

Not crazy about the pose, but she looks very nice and well made. As for the series…I personally couldn’t stand the original OVAs and since the manga series seems to follow them closely probably wouldn’t like em either. The first season of the new one was meh, but I throughly enjoyed the second one a great deal. ~_^
Never really watched Birdy. And from screenshots, I can justify that the animation quality isn’t really that fantastic. Perhaps this figurine makes up for it, just like the Akikan (Melon) one.
I’m just wondering, regarding uplark’s sudden surge of Sept figurines, will they be able to produce enough stock in such a short period of time? But I don’t mind if i gets delayed either, there’re really too many figurine releases in Sept.
