Alter is going to release the Kakouen Myousai ( 夏侯淵妙才 ) 1/8 PVC figure from the manga/anime “Ikkitousen” ( 一騎当千, Dragon Destiny ). Will be released in October December 2009 March 2010. Around 200mm tall, 6,800 yen.
Believe it or not, this Kakouen Myousai and Ryomou Shimei are only the 3rd and 4th Ikkitousen figures from Alter. I just notice that there are A LOT of Ikkitousen announced every month, but most of them are from Taki corporation, Griffon Enterprises, Musashiya, and some other small maufactures. Other large manufacturers like Alter, GSC/Max Factory, and Kotobukiya, they don’t seems to care about Ikkitousen much. Even Orchidseed is so into ecchi figures, but they don’t really have many figure for Ikkitousen. I really wonder why.

the reason why not all figure companies make figures from every series is due to the fact that the characters these companies are portraying are copyrighted material and must be licensed in order to be allowed for sale.
however, there is the chance that some companies just have no desire to make figures from certain series. each company has an image to maintain regarding the type and quality of figures they put out.
there is a lot of negotiation and money exchanging hands behind closed doors, from anime companies trying to make as much cash from licensing to the sculptors who are inspired to make their creations.
while figures are beautiful and regarded as a form of art, the fact is that these companies are business and exist to make money. and they make the necessary arrangements to do so.
but i will not complain if they release more ikkitousen figures…
This is one of the rare Ikkitousen figures I would consider owning. Yes, she’s got the pre-requisite bib boobs but they look semi-proportionate and aren’t spilling out all over the place.
Alter does a good job on the ikkitousen figures. I’m preordering this one. Gonna put it up together with Kanu and Chouun Alter.
