Kotobukiya is going to release the Marvel Bishoujo Statue Jean Grey ( ジーン・グレイ ) 1/7 PVC figure from the Marvel Comics. Will be released in July 2011. Around 210mm tall, 6,200 yen.
Since I don’t know much about US comic character, let’s have some stupid talk. =P
English is not my mother tongue and I used to study British English in school before I came to Canada, so I always get confused with those British/US English words. For example “Grey” & “Gray” and “Center” & “Centre”. I don’t know about UK or US, but in Canada, just like me, many people use both UK and US English words together which *I think* it is totally normal. Yea I know, it’s so stupid right? XD

——Description from Manufacturer—— Sculpted by Youhei Suzuki (Heavy Gauge) Having already joined the lineup in her Phoenix form, Jean Gray is back – and in her classic yellow and blue uniform! One of the most beloved heroines in the Marvel Universe and part of the initial X-Men lineup, the telekinetic Jean Gray has been perfectly depicted here in a newly reinvisioned form by master illustrator Shunya Yamashita. With her costume based on the Jim Lee design used in X-Men Vol. 2 #1, this is sure to be a fast favorite for any X-Men fan! Jean is posed in the middle of using her mental powers and her base shows her engaged in mid-air combat. The base also features elements of the X-Jet and is shown firing a missle to support Jean’s efforts! Jean even includes special clear effect parts that can be attached to the figure to simulate her Psychic Blast attack! |

i know that they tried hard on the base.. but its kinda retarded lol.
Agreed – points for effort, but the base is pretty dumb. To me it actually takes attention away from the figure rather than highlight the figure itself.
Its a shame to see that Kotobukiya basically forgot how to do a good Yamashita figure. Their Shii Arisugawa and Seira-chan figures from years ago looked much better in the face than the recent Marvel/DC Bishojo figures (even though the paint applications on the other parts of the figures have been very, very good). The recent Black Cat figure was pretty good overall, but still didn’t really capture the Yamashita style.
It seems like they have closed up the gap between the press shots and the real figures a bit (which was huge for some of the releases – the production Psylocke looked terrible) but at the end of the day I still feel like they’re just “Japanese PVC Versions” of the heroines and not “Yamashita Shunya Versions”.
you know what? ill take a japanese pvc version any day becuase the american ones stink.
This figure is horrible!!! The original art is much better.
The pose is more dynamic in the art. The face is best in art. I have nothing to complain about bishoujo DC. But Marvel’s…
“Yea I know, it’s so stupid right? XD”
Lmao! It does make her look very Jap’s cliched “American” for some reason.
I PREFER NOT ALONE DISPENSING OF COMMENT, BUT NOT REPLICATE WITHOUT REASON THESE COMMENTS, SORRY, BOYS AND GIRLS!
INU-MAJIN, I think your keyboard is broken 🙂 Or you like to communicate by screaming. In that case HELLO THERE! HOW ARE YOU!
I think he is from Portugal and he used google translator. I don’t know Portuguese but maybe that’s how they type?
I’m just teasing, but if there is a language issue then it may not be seen as such. So, in order to be safe let me say:
Oi! Estou apenas brincando, por favor, não leve meu comentário a sério.*
*Brought to you by google translator 🙂
