FREEing is going to release the Akiyama Mio ( 秋山 澪 ) 1/8 PVC figure from the manga/anime “K-ON!” ( けいおん! ). Will be released in July 2010. Around 200mm tall, 7,429 yen.

You can order her here

There are so many Mio figures out there, maybe I’m just being picky, but not many of them look nice at all. Most of them looks pretty nice when they were not painted. I guess the paint job really does the tricks, most of them look so plain after they were painted. When I first saw this Mio’s non-painted prototype, I thought she was gonna be really nice but I’m wrong.

Black is one of the hardest color (um… is black a color?) to paint. You need to add difference shade of other color (e.g. blue, brown, grey) to bring out the depth of the painted object. But as you can see, FREEing didn’t do it, or at least I can’t tell from the photo at all. It’s so disappointed. =/

——Description from Manufacturer——

Moe, moe, kyun! ♥

From the popular anime ‘K-ON’ comes a PVC figure the easily embarrassed bassist of Sakura High’s Music Club – Mio Akiyama.

From one of the most popular scenes in the entire series, Mio has been sculpted in a maid outfit in her “Moe, moe, kyun! ♥” pose! The maid outfit is designed directly from the anime, along with the expression and posing – it’s the ideal replica of the original.

It’s definitely a different feeling to her usual musical performances, but it’s yet another side of Mio for all to enjoy!
