Atelier-Sai is going to release the Kanu Unchou ( 關羽 雲長 ) 1/8 polystone figure from the manga/anime “Ikkitousen” ( 一騎当千, Dragon Destiny ). Will be released in May 2009. Around 400mm tall, 17,640 yen.

I think this is the first Ikkitousen figure from Atelier-Sai. I bet they’re gonna release a Ryomou figure soon. This figure looks really nice! Not like other Kanu figures that usually only focus on her damaged clothes or her bouncing boobs, this figure really make Kanu does look like a warrior (look at the muscles! and she has 6-pack!!!). And her pose is really great too. I really wonder how much this figure is gonna cost. =]
Beside the great look pose and her muscles, there is another thing really catch my eye here. This figure is not made of PVC, this is made of Polystone! Polystone is the common name for Polyethylene. It’s just another plastic. But there are two main types, High and Low Density. High density is used for the figures. Polystone offers good resistance to moisture, impact, heat, sunlight, cold and has good rigidity compared to PVC.

Yeah, but at least this one’s a LOT better than some of the previous incarnations of Kanu.
Now, having said that, I’m going to completely contradict myself and say that the muscle ‘cords’ in her stomach are just a bit too much. ^_^;;

Yeah, polystone figures break easier than PVCs, and they tend to have a semi-gloss finish to the materials, which makes skins slightly darker and silky. I recently dropped my Ryomou Shimei polystone figure on a vinyl floor, it broke in two places.
