The TV anime series Chitose Get You!! is created by studio Silver Link, based on a 4-panel slice-of-life comedy manga by Etsuya Mashima, about an energetic 11-year-old school girl named Chitose Sakuraba. She is madly in childish-love with Hiroshi, an older guy who works at the town hall next to her school. Chitose spends every day relentlessly pursuing him. But can she ever convince Hiroshi to go out with her?

The second Accel World OVA is bundled with the limited edition of Accel World Stage:02 Kasoku no Chouten – the second of two “accelerated world simulation” games released by Namco Bandai for the PS3 and PSP, based on a light novel series by Reki Kawahara, which also spawned a 2012 TV anime series (among other media). The game’s PS3 version bundles this second Accel World OVA on Blu-ray, while the PSP version has it on DVD only.

  • Release Date: January 31, 2013
  • Studio: Sunrise

The OVA adaptation of Hyouka is created by Kyoto Animation and, like the 2012 TV anime series, it is based on Honobu Yonezawa’s adolescent mystery novel Hyou-ka: You Can’t Escape. The OVA is bundled on Blu-ray with the limited edition of Tasukuouna’s third Hyouka manga volume, likewise based on the novel, and serves as “Episode 11.5” for the earlier TV series. The episode deals with an incident at the municipal swimming pool – in other words, fanservice abounds!

The OVA series Kiss x Sis is based on Bow Ditama’s manga about sisterly love. And not just any kind of sisterly love, but a double step-sisterly love. The original “romantic incest comedy” manga centers on Keita – a third-year middle school boy studying for his high school entrance exams. His two twin stepsisters Ako and Riko Suminoe – with no blood relation to him – help him prepare for the exams, but life gets too cozy between Keita and the girls.

The OVA adaptation Joshiraku follows the 2012 TV anime series created by studio J.C. Staff, based on a slice-of-life comedy manga written by Kouji Kumeta and illustrated by Yasu. The OVA is bundled on DVD with the manga’s limited edition 5th volume. The original story follows the behind-the-scenes dressing-room conversations of a group of female (joshi) Japanese verbal show (rakugo) performers. They discuss random things and usually reach an unusual or humorous conclusion that’s far from the initial discussion topic.

The OVA adaptation Seitokai Yakuindomo follows the 2010 TV anime series created by studio GoHands, based on a slice-of-life comedy manga by Tozen Ujiie, and is bundled with some of the manga’s limited edition volumes.

(February 20, 2013)

The OVA adaptation Kagaku na Yatsura is based on Hideaki Yoshikawa’s “science trouble” romantic comedy manga, about two beautiful girls “born from science” – a cyborg girl and a half-dog girl – who go to extremes with the power of science. The OVA is bundled on Blu-ray with the manga’s limited edition 4th volume.

The TV anime series Kuroko no Basuke is created by Production I.G, based on Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s basketball manga. In the story, Taiga Kagami has just enrolled into Seirin High School when he meets Tetsuya Kuroko of the school’s basketball team. Kuroko happens to be the shadowy sixth member of the legendary “Generation of Miracles” basketball team. Together, Kagami and Kuroko aim to take their team to the inter-high school championship – against Kuroko’s former teammates.

The Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team original video anime series will get a Blu-ray Memorial Box on February 22, 2013, and the box will bundle a brand-new short film, “Sanjigen to no Tatakai” (Battle in Three Dimensions, pictured right). Ichiro Okouchi wrote the scenario, which follows the 08th MS Team (led by Shiro Amada in the Gundam Ez-8) through the jungle zone towards the next battlefront. Just as they approach a bridge, the team is attacked by the Zeon forces from the front, left, right, and the air.

The TV anime series Sket Dance is created by Tatsunoko Production, based on a school comedy manga written and illustrated by Kenta Shinohara. The slice-of-life stories follow the misadventures of the “Campus Support Group” (or “Sket-Dan”) of Kaimei Gakuen – a club devoted to solving any and all problems brought to it by the staff or student body for the general improvement of campus life. Due to its general lack of meaningful assignments and unglamorous “group of handymen” reputation, the organization is treated with widespread contempt and is composed of only three members.
