The Tiger & Bunny movies are created by studio Sunrise, following their original mecha-themed TV anime series from 2011. The story is set in Sternbild City – home to people called “Next”, who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire “hero points”. Their activities are documented on the popular program “Hero TV”, which picks the “King of Heroes” in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he’s been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero.

The anime film Fuse: Teppou Musume no Torimonochou (Fuse: A Gun Girl’s Detective Story) is created by studio TMS Entertainment, based on Kazuki Sakuraba’s mythological manga Fuse Gansaku: Satomi Hakkenden – which, in turn, is a re-imagining of the classic Japanese epic novel Nansou Satomi Hakkenden. In the original story, eight samurai serve the Satomi clan during Japan’s tumultuous Sengoku (Warring States) era. The Edo-era samurai are the reincarnations of the spirits that Princess Fuse mothered with a dog named Yatsufusa. In the manga, the female hunter Hamaji comes to her brother in order to hunt Fuse. Thus, the karmic cycle of retribution that began long ago with the Satomi family begins anew.
