Touhou Project Alice Margatroid 1/6 PVC figure by Ts system.

T’s system. is going to release the Alice Margatroid (アリス・マーガトロイド) 1/6 PVC figure from the doujin danmaku shooting game series “Touhou Project” ( 東方プロジェクト ) by the circle Team Shanghai Alice ( 上海アリス幻樂団 ). Will be released in June 2010, 8,500 yen.

**Please see my other T’s system. Touhou Project BS in the Sanae post**

This Alice Margatroid by T’s system. is so cute! And she comes with her favorite dolls, Shangahi and Hourai too. I was waiting for T’s system. to release this Alice for awhile. But why she comes with the high price tag! Actually 8,500 yen for a 1/6 scale PVC figure is a fair deal, but their previous Touhou figures were only 7,000 yen. I guess I’ll go for the Griffon Alice (only 5,780yen at Amiami) now instead of wait for this one. =/

This figure, I really can’t decide. She’s super cute, and I love Alice, she’s my favourite girl in Touhou, but I don’t like large scales, don’t really like the price, and I already have a figure for June… (even if I don’t have one for May, I’m trying to cut back.)

A huge fan of Alice here. I’d buy an Alice figure, but not this one. The Alice I know from Doujin art is typically depicted to be much more serious with a slight smile (and reading a book).
Sure – there isn’t such a thing as Canon-Alice decided by ZUN himself. But let me explain..

Everything about this figure is just .. Off! The gloss on the clothing and shoes is so unsettling (I like Matte better), not really a fan of the creases – there are better ways to do creases (like big folds that hint at a more natural heavy wind), the creases here they look too artificial. The skin texture doesn’t look as realistic as any of my 1/8s. Posture and face for me a huge problem. Ok I think the company decided on moe here. Kind of like Alice in Wonderland style moe. A safe sell for the Otaku. But the execution is horrible!

Look at screenshot number 4, the front-on one where she is leaning back. To me, that doesn’t look remotely natural or stable. If it is Alice in Wonderland, then MAKE HER CLUTCH HER DRESS UP or something at least(like playing in the water)! It all comes back to Fan Art and the largely agreed upon community tastes. Obviously this company decides to turn a blind eye to these things.

There are better 1/6 touhou figures in the batch, I reckon. Sanae and Cirno looks ok in the small screens.

I must say though, very affordable.
